This song describes social justice because it describes the things being seen through the eyes of a poor African American man. Emphasizing how hard it is being of color during that time and how poverty really hit him. The artist really shows just how being on the streets really open your eyes and makes you realize what is going on around you. Instead of smoking weed, selling crack, and not taking care of ourselves, that there is more to life than what is being subjected to. He goes on to say that we should change our ways and doing what we have to survive the right way. There is a wrong and right way to do things in life. However you cant change everyone, therefore somethings won't ever change.
I found this song to be inspirational because its about real life events and what its like being in poverty. What popped out was at the end he says, “Some things will never change”because not everyone is going to change their ways. No matter how much you do for them no one will change unless they want to.

ReplyDeleteHey Rachel
I think that's a great idea to grasp from the song Changes. The idea of someone not making a change unless they want to. As a upcoming spoken word artist I love Tupac Shakur. It's great how you began to dig into a deeper meaning of his words "Something's will never change." However, I think someone who as inspiring he is should be viewed more. You should really check out his documentary.
Heey there! I love this song!! :) It brings back memories. Although my favorite part of the song was the "ratatatatat" before I realized that this was a very inspirational song, I think that this song reflects very well on how the African-American people live. I love the idea of your blog. I hope you find time to check out my blog as well. Have a great day! :)
